Valorization Potential of Polish Laterite Leaching Residues through Alkali Activation

In this study, the valorization potential of Polish laterite leaching residues through alkali activation with use NaOH and Na2SiO3 solutions as activators was investigated. The effect main factors, namely H2O/Na2O molar ratio in activating solution, curing temperature, ageing period on properties produced activated materials (AAMs) assessed. experimental results showed that AAMs sufficient compressive strength were only when mixed significant quantities metakaolin; thus, mass metakaolin 0.50, after at 40 °C for 24 h 7 days, acquired slightly exceeded 25 MPa. X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy, energy dispersive spectroscopy (SEM–EDS) analysis used characterization raw selected AAMs. Furthermore, structural integrity specimens investigated immersion distilled water acidic solution (1 mol L−1 HCl), or firing higher temperatures.
